Towing in New Orleans: The Interstates and the Bridges
A lot of the interstate here is elevated or on long bridges, with little room to pull over. Tell us which one you're on, your direction and the last exit. We text a locked price, then send the nearest available vetted partner.
I-10 and the Claiborne Expressway
I-10 runs through the city as the Pontchartrain Expressway. Near the Superdome, exits 234A and 234B serve Claiborne Avenue and Poydras Street. Through Treme, I-10 rides high above Claiborne Avenue. If you stall up there, stay in the car with your belt on and your hazards flashing.
The I-610 split
I-610 leaves I-10 at the Metairie line and cuts across Lakeview and Gentilly, past City Park, before rejoining I-10. Tell us whether you were on I-10 or I-610 when the car quit, since the two split and meet again farther east.
The High Rise and the Twin Span
East of downtown, I-10 climbs the High Rise over the Industrial Canal into New Orleans East. Farther out, the Twin Span crosses Lake Pontchartrain to Slidell. On a bridge, don't get out to look at a flat. A tire change waits until you're somewhere safe.
The Crescent City Connection
The main bridge over the Mississippi links downtown to Algiers, Gretna and the rest of the Westbank. Say which side of the river you're on and which way you were headed. It decides which partner comes.
Off the interstates, the calls are just as real. A dead battery on Tulane Avenue gets a jump. A car that won't run on Canal Street gets a tow to your shop.
Street flooding
When the Streets Flood, Your Car Comes Second
Half of New Orleans sits at or below sea level. The city relies on levees and drainage pumps, and a hard rain can still put water in the streets fast. The city's emergency site, NOLA Ready, is clear about what to do:
- Don't drive through flood water. The city warns a car can float in less than two feet of moving water.
- If water rises around your car, leave it right away. Get to higher ground and call 911.
- Move your parked car to higher ground if you can. During major street flooding, the city may lift parking rules on neutral grounds and sidewalks. Don't block intersections or streetcar tracks.
- Move it back. Normal parking rules come back two hours after the flooding ends.
The city's Streetwise map shows reported street flooding. Once the water is down, call us. A car that sat in flood water shouldn't be started. Have it towed to a shop.
Car gone from the curb?
If the City Towed Your Car
If you parked on a New Orleans street and came back to an empty space, start with the city's Find My Towed Vehicle page. It has the number to call to confirm a tow. The main city lot is on North Claiborne Avenue, under the expressway at Conti Street, and you pay there to get the car back.
The city's towing rules say it may tow right away for public safety. That includes cars parked on a sidewalk, within 15 feet of a hydrant, in a crosswalk or intersection, in a bike lane, or blocking a wheelchair or bike ramp. Check the curb before you walk away.
We don't handle impound releases. If you get the car back and it won't start after days on the lot, that's when to call us.
Louisiana law if you stall in a lane
Louisiana's R.S. 32:141, written for highways outside business and residence districts, says a driver whose car is disabled in a travel lane must move it as soon as possible and protect traffic until then. Turn on your hazards, and put out flares or a triangle only if you can do it safely. After a small crash with no one hurt, move a drivable car to the nearest safe shoulder.
Louisiana's move over law also covers trucks with amber warning lights, like the one coming to help you.

New Orleans questions
What New Orleans Drivers Ask
My street is flooding. Can I park on the neutral ground?
Only when the city says so. During major street flooding, the city may lift parking rules on neutral grounds and sidewalks so people can move cars to higher ground. Don't block intersections or streetcar tracks, and move the car back within two hours after the flooding ends.
Can you tow my car from the East Bank to a shop on the Westbank?
Yes, if it's a local trip. Tell us both addresses when you call. Your price comes by text before anyone is sent, and it covers the trip across the river.
My car won't start after a Saints game at the Superdome. Can you help?
Yes. Tell us the garage or lot and a landmark near the car. Game traffic can slow the truck, so stay with the car and follow the map link we text you.
My car isn't where I parked it. Did you tow it?
No. We only come when you call us. If the car was on a city street, the city's towed vehicle page tells you how to check. If it was in a private lot, ask the property owner or manager who towed it.
Will someone check on me while I wait on I-10?
Yes. We text you until the truck arrives, and we can text one family member your location too. It's part of the Stay-With-You Promise.
