Towing in Bradenton Means Crossing Water

The Manatee River runs along the north side of Bradenton. The Intracoastal Waterway splits it from Anna Maria Island. So a lot of breakdowns here happen on or near a bridge. Tell us which crossing you're closest to, and we'll text your price and send the nearest available vetted partner.

Hernando DeSoto Bridge (US 41 and US 301)

US 41 and US 301 cross the river together here between Bradenton and Palmetto. If the car quits on the span, stay in it with your belt on and hazards flashing. A bridge shoulder is no place to stand.

The Green Bridge (US 41 Business)

The older crossing from downtown to Palmetto. Tell us which bridge you're on, the Green Bridge or the DeSoto, so the driver heads for the right one.

Manatee Avenue and the Anna Maria Island Bridge

SR 64 runs west over the Palma Sola Causeway and a drawbridge into Holmes Beach. When the bridge goes up, traffic stops. If your temperature gauge climbs while you wait, shut the engine off before it boils over.

Cortez Road and the Cortez Bridge

SR 684 is Cortez Road the whole way, from US 41 through Cortez and over a drawbridge into Bradenton Beach. On the island, Gulf Drive is the only road that runs its full length, so give us the nearest cross street.

I-75, exits 213 to 224

University Parkway, SR 70, SR 64, then the bridge over the Manatee River and US 301 at Ellenton. Name the last exit. A dead battery at a Lakewood Ranch lot off University is a jump start. A blowout near the river bridge usually means a tow to the next exit.

I-275 toward the Sunshine Skyway

I-275 splits from I-75 north of Ellenton and heads over the Skyway to St. Petersburg. If you break down on the way, tell us the last exit and how far you are from the bridge.

Gulf Coast weather

Hot Months, Wet Afternoons, and Storm Surge

Bradenton is hot most of the year. NOAA's normals for the Bradenton station show about 83 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and about half the year's rain falls in June, July and August. Heat is hard on batteries, and a summer downpour can flood low streets fast.

The National Weather Service says 12 inches of moving water can carry off most cars, and 2 feet can carry off SUVs and trucks. Turn around. Don't drive past a barrier on a flooded road.

Hurricanes don't have to hit Bradenton to hurt it. In 2024, Helene passed nearly 100 miles offshore and still flooded Bradenton Beach. Weeks later, Anna Maria Island was evacuated ahead of Milton.

If your car sat in salt water, don't try to start it. Call for a tow to a shop instead. And if the island is under an evacuation order, leave early, with a full tank.

Florida law

Your Hazard Lights Bring Florida's Move Over Law Into Play

Florida's Move Over Act, s. 316.126, covers more than police cars. It covers a wrecker with amber lights doing a recovery. It also covers any disabled car that's stopped with its hazard lights on, flares out or people standing nearby.

When drivers come up on you, they must move out of the closest lane on a road with two or more lanes their way. If they can't do that safely, they must slow to 20 mph under the posted limit.

So the first thing to do on I-75 or US 41 is turn on your hazards. It makes you easier to see, and it puts that law to work for you.

Towed from a private lot?

Under s. 715.07, a lot must post a sign at each driveway with the words "tow-away zone" and the tow company's name and phone number.

If you catch the tow truck before it leaves, the law says the driver must stop when you ask for your car back, and return it for a reduced fee.

Bradenton questions

Bradenton Towing Questions

Can you get a tow truck out to Anna Maria Island?

Yes. A partner comes over the Cortez Bridge or the Manatee Avenue bridge. If a drawbridge is up, that adds time. Give us the nearest cross street on Gulf Drive so the driver picks the closer bridge.

My car was towed from a lot near the beach. Who has it?

Florida law says the sign at the lot entrance must name the tow company and give its phone number. Call them. We don't handle impound releases.

My car stalled in street flooding after a summer storm. Should I try to restart it?

No. Get yourself out of the water first. Once it drops, call us and a partner can tow the car to a shop. Your price comes by text before we send anyone.

I'm visiting for spring training and my rental won't start. Can you help?

Yes. Tell us where you are, like the lots around LECOM Park downtown, and what the car is doing. We'll text you the driver's details and check on you until they arrive. That's the Stay-With-You Promise.

Tow Truck and Roadside Services in Bradenton

Sentinel is a 24-hour towing and roadside assistance network for Bradenton drivers. Tell us what happened, and we send a vetted local towing company near you with a truck suited to the job: a tow truck for a car that can't be driven (a flatbed where the vehicle needs one, like many all-wheel-drive cars), or a service truck for a jump start, lockout, flat tire, fuel delivery or winch-out.

The Sentinel Stay-With-You Promise

Seven Promises on Every Bradenton Call

Read the fine print on the promise page.

  1. We stay with you. From your call until the truck arrives, we check on you by text.

  2. See your driver before they arrive. You get their name, photo and truck by text, and you can track your truck on a map.

  3. Your family knows too. Give us one number, and we text them your location and arrival time.

  4. Photo-protected tow. Before hookup, your driver photographs all 4 sides of your vehicle. We text you the photos.

  5. Price locked by text. You get your price by text before we dispatch. That price is the most you pay for the job. If the job changes, we text a new price first and you decide.

  6. Never stranded after. Ride along in the truck when it's safe and allowed, or we help you get a ride. We also point you to a good repair shop.

  7. Free Sentinel Circle. After your first job, your vehicle is on file. Next time, just text "TOW" for priority dispatch.
