Towing in Little Rock, Freeway by Freeway

Little Rock is laced with interstates, and the numbers are easy to mix up when you're stressed. The quickest way to get help is to name the right one.

The Wilbur D. Mills Freeway, I-630, cuts across the middle of the city from downtown to the west side, where it turns into Chenal Parkway. I-430 is the western bypass, with exits at Baseline, Stagecoach, Colonel Glenn, Shackleford, Kanis, Rodney Parham and Cantrell. I-440 runs past the airport on the east side. I-30 comes up from Benton and crosses the river, and I-40 runs through North Little Rock.

Call and tell us the freeway, your direction and the last exit. We text a locked price, then send the nearest available vetted partner. That might be a jump start in a River Market lot, a tire change on Chenal Parkway or a tow off I-430 to your shop.

River crossings

Which Side of the River Are You On?

Little Rock sits on the south bank of the Arkansas River. North Little Rock is its own city on the other side. Three interstates cross the river here: I-30 near downtown, I-430 on the west side and I-440 on the east side.

If you break down on or near a bridge, tell us which side of the river you're closer to. It decides which partner can reach you first. Stay in the car with your belt on and hazards flashing. There's nowhere safe to walk.

I-440 has its own quirk. Most of it between I-30 and the airport exit is a long bridge over the Fourche Creek floodplain. If your car quits along that stretch, keep rolling to the end of the bridge if you can.

Car impounded?

No Insurance Card, No Drive-Off

When Little Rock Police have a car towed, it goes to the city's Vehicle Storage Facility. To get it back, you need proof of ownership, proof of current insurance and a valid ID.

Here's what catches people. If you can't show insurance, the car has to leave the lot on a wrecker. You also need a valid license to drive it out, or a licensed driver with you, or a tow.

The city's own FAQ says that once your information is in and the car is paid for, you can call the tow company of your choice. You sign a Release Authorization Form so a third party can pick it up. We don't handle the release, but once you've signed, call us. Your price comes by text first.

Arkansas says move over

ARDOT's Just Move Over page lists a vehicle used in a towing operation as one drivers must move over for, under Arkansas Code 27-51-310. Drivers must move to the lane farthest from it until they pass. If they can't do that safely, they must slow down.

Check IDriveArkansas for closures before a bad-weather drive.

Central Arkansas weather

Tornadoes, Heat and the Occasional Ice Storm

On March 31, 2023, an EF3 tornado crossed west Little Rock. It moved through Chenal Valley and Breckenridge, crossed I-430 at the Rodney Parham interchange, where it flipped cars in a parking lot, then hit Walnut Valley before going on to North Little Rock, Sherwood and Jacksonville.

  • When a warning is out: don't ride it out in a car. Get into a sturdy building, and call for the tow once it's over.
  • Heat: NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for the airport show about 69 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and about 6 at 100°F or more. Heat kills weak batteries. A car that clicks but won't crank is often a jump, not a tow.
  • Ice: the same airport normals show about 51 nights a year at or below freezing, and Winter Storm Fern brought freezing rain across the state in January 2026. If you slide off an icy road and the car still runs, a winch-out may be all you need.

Little Rock questions

Little Rock Drivers Ask

My car is at the city storage lot and I don't have proof of insurance. What now?

The city says it has to leave the lot on a wrecker. After you've paid and signed the Release Authorization Form, call us. A partner picks it up and takes it where you want it to go.

I broke down on the I-30 bridge. Which city do I say?

Tell us your direction and which end of the bridge is closer, Little Rock or North Little Rock. Stay in the car with your belt on. If you're in a live lane and can't move, call 911 first.

Can you tow my car from Conway to a shop in Little Rock?

Tell us both addresses when you call. If a partner can take it as a local tow, your price comes by text first. We don't do long-distance moves between cities.

Can someone at home get updates while I wait?

Yes. Give us one number and we text them your location and when the truck should arrive. It's part of the Stay-With-You Promise.

Tow Truck and Roadside Services in Little Rock

Sentinel is a 24-hour towing and roadside assistance network for Little Rock drivers. Tell us what happened, and we send a vetted local towing company near you with a truck suited to the job: a tow truck for a car that can't be driven (a flatbed where the vehicle needs one, like many all-wheel-drive cars), or a service truck for a jump start, lockout, flat tire, fuel delivery or winch-out.

The Sentinel Stay-With-You Promise

Seven Promises on Every Little Rock Call

Read the fine print on the promise page.

  1. We stay with you. From your call until the truck arrives, we check on you by text.

  2. See your driver before they arrive. You get their name, photo and truck by text, and you can track your truck on a map.

  3. Your family knows too. Give us one number, and we text them your location and arrival time.

  4. Photo-protected tow. Before hookup, your driver photographs all 4 sides of your vehicle. We text you the photos.

  5. Price locked by text. You get your price by text before we dispatch. That price is the most you pay for the job. If the job changes, we text a new price first and you decide.

  6. Never stranded after. Ride along in the truck when it's safe and allowed, or we help you get a ride. We also point you to a good repair shop.

  7. Free Sentinel Circle. After your first job, your vehicle is on file. Next time, just text "TOW" for priority dispatch.
