Greenville, NC Tow Prices: What an ECU Game Day Changes (and What It Doesn't)

On an ECU game day in Greenville, NC, the traffic doesn't set your tow price. The job does. How far your car rides to the shop, what went wrong, what you drive and where it's parked all count. A dead battery in a lot off Charles Boulevard may only need a jump. Campus road closures can change where your driver meets you. You get one price by text before anyone is sent, and a slow drive in doesn't raise it.
Does game-day traffic make a Greenville tow cost more?
Not with Sentinel. Your price comes from the job, and you see it by text before a truck is sent. That number is the most you pay for the job. If your driver sits in a line of cars on Charles Boulevard, the job hasn't changed, so the price hasn't either.
The price can only move if the job moves. Say you called about a dead battery, and the car turns out to need a tow. Then we text you a new price first, and you decide.
Traffic still matters to you, just not to the bill. The stadium seats 51,000, and Charles Boulevard is the main road in. When the crowd leaves, the streets around campus fill up fast. Keep your phone charged, and stay near your car so your driver can find you.
When are ECU's last home games of 2026?
Three home games are left on the official 2026 schedule. All three are at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. These are the days to plan around if you live, work or park near campus.
| Date | Kickoff | Opponent |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday, October 31 | 3:00 p.m. | Temple |
| Friday, November 6 | 7:30 p.m. | South Florida |
| Saturday, November 28 | Not set yet | Florida Atlantic |
The Friday game is a night game in November. NOAA's normal November low for Greenville is about 41°F. Cold is hard on a weak battery. So is a long tailgate with the radio, a phone charger or a TV running while the engine is off. If your car clicks when you turn the key after the game, that may be why.
What closes around Dowdy-Ficklen on game day?
ECU's parking office lists the changes it makes for home games. Know them before you call, because they decide where a truck can go.
- 14th Street. Three hours before kickoff, 14th Street closes to incoming traffic from Charles Boulevard to Elm Street. Cars can drive out, but they can't come back in, even with an ECU permit.
- College Hill Drive. The entrance at 10th Street is closed.
- Campus roadblocks. ECU Athletics says rideshare cars and personal vehicles can't pass campus roadblocks without the right credentials.
- Rideshare stop. Pickups and drop-offs use 14th Street between Elm Street and Berkley Road, before, during and after the game.
So if your car quits inside the closed area, your driver may not be able to pull right up to it. Tell the dispatcher which roadblock or open cross street is closest. Your driver may need to meet you at the edge, or wait until the roads open back up. If an officer is working the roadblock, ask whether a truck can come through, and follow what the officer says.
How do you tell your driver where your car is?
"The stadium lot" could mean a lot of places. Give one exact spot.
- Your space number. ECU game-day parking passes went digital in 2026. When the attendant scans yours, you get a small printout with your space number for the dashboard. Read that number to the dispatcher.
- The lot's current name. The old Lower Minges lot off Charles Boulevard is now the Shreve Family Lot. The public pay lot is at Belk, and the ADA pay lot is at Christenbury Memorial Gymnasium.
- A landmark you can see. Tailgate Plaza, on the old Scales Fieldhouse site, is easy to name. So is the rideshare stop on 14th Street.
One catch with passes: each one lets a car into its lot once, with no re-entry after the scan. If a truck has to come in for your car, ask the lot attendant how to make that work before your driver gets close.
What changes the price of a tow on game day?
The same things that change it any other day. Game day just makes some of them more likely.
- What went wrong. A car that clicks after a long tailgate may only need a jump start, not a tow. Keys locked inside during the pregame? That's a car lockout.
- Where it's stuck. A packed lot with cars on every side is a harder hookup than an open curb. Even ECU's own towing page says a tow company's cost can vary when special equipment is needed.
- Your vehicle. An all-wheel-drive car or a lifted pickup can take more care to load than a small sedan.
- Where it's going. A shop near campus is a shorter ride than one out in Winterville or Ayden. Have the shop's name and street address ready.
If the car truly won't roll, you need a car tow. Partners in our network handle cars, SUVs, minivans and light pickups. They don't take RVs, motorcycles or heavy trucks, so a tailgate camper is out.
What if ECU moved your car before the game?
ECU clears some campus lots before each home game. For a Saturday game, the deadline is typically 7 PM on Friday, and cars still there can be towed. The Friday, November 6 game will have its own times, so watch your ECU email for them.
Sentinel doesn't do impounds or campus tows, and we can't get your car released. Here is ECU's own process:
- Call ECU Police at (252) 328-6787 to find out where your car went.
- The standard lot is on 14th Street by the ECU Steam Plant. Cars from the D Zone lots on Curry Court go beside the intramural fields.
- Get a release form first. The Parking and Transportation office is at 305 E. 10th Street, open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its number is (252) 328-6294. After hours, pick up the form at ECU Police in the Blount House, 609 East 10th Street.
- Bring your ECU 1 Card or a valid driver's license.
- Expect two bills. ECU charges an administrative tow fee, paid only at its office or by phone with a credit card. ECU Police won't take that payment. The tow company's charge is separate, and you pay it when you pick up the car.
Moved your car for the game on your own? ECU says it has to be back in its own zone before 6 AM the Monday after a Saturday game, or it can be towed.
If your car won't start once it's released, that part we can help with. A battery that sat through a few cold nights may just need a jump. If it needs a mechanic, we can send a tow to the shop you pick.
What if you get bumped in game traffic?
A slow line of cars near the stadium can still mean a crunched fender. If anyone is hurt, call 911 first. Sentinel is not an emergency service.
If no one is hurt and both cars still drive, North Carolina law, G.S. 20-166(c2), says to move out of the travel lane to the shoulder as soon as you can. Then trade information. If your car can't move, turn on your hazard lights. Stay buckled in, or get well away from traffic, whichever is safer where you are.
How does Sentinel handle a game-day call in Greenville?
Looking for a towing company in Greenville during a game? Sentinel Towing doesn't own trucks. We're a towing and roadside network, and a vetted local partner tow company does the job. We lock your price by text first. Then we check on you by text until your truck gets there. You get your driver's name, photo and truck, and you can track your truck on a map while it works through the crowd.
That's the Stay-With-You Promise. For the main roads and towns we cover, see our Greenville towing page. For what else moves a price around town, like road work and river crossings, read our Greenville tow price guide.

ECU Game Day Towing Questions
Will my tow price go up if my driver gets stuck in game traffic?
No. Your texted price is the most you pay for the job, and traffic doesn't change the job. The price only changes if the job does. If that happens, we text you a new price first.
Can a tow truck reach my car during the game?
Maybe not right away. 14th Street closes to incoming traffic three hours before kickoff, and personal vehicles can't pass campus roadblocks without credentials. Tell us the nearest open street, and follow what officers at the roadblock say.
ECU towed my car from a campus lot. Can Sentinel get it back?
No. Sentinel doesn't do impounds or campus tows. Call ECU Police at (252) 328-6787 to find it, then get a release form from Parking and Transportation. If it won't start once it's released, call us.
What should I have ready when I call from a stadium lot?
The lot name, your space number from the dashboard printout and the closest street, like Charles Boulevard or 14th Street. Then say what the car is doing and where it should go.
