Towing in Clarksville on the Roads You Drive Every Day

Clarksville sits where the Red River meets the Cumberland, between Nashville and the Kentucky line. These are its main roads. Tell us which one you're on and the nearest exit or cross street. We text your price, then send the nearest available vetted partner.

I-24

The interstate runs along the eastern edge of town. Exit 1 is Route 48 toward Trenton, Kentucky. Exit 4 is Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, near Austin Peay. Exit 8 is Rossview Road. Exit 11 is the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Past that, it heads for Pleasant View and Nashville.

Fort Campbell Boulevard

US 41A leads out to the post. A dead battery in a lot along it after a long day is a jump start, not a tow.

Wilma Rudolph Boulevard

US 79 meets I-24 at Exit 4, near Austin Peay. Keys locked in the car at a store lot along it? That's a lockout call.

101st Airborne Division Parkway

Route 374 is the northern bypass, from Dover Road near the post around to Trenton Road. It crosses the Red River and meets Fort Campbell Boulevard and Peachers Mill Road on the way.

I-24 toward Nashville

The Grade, the Red River and a Busy Commute

Between the Rossview Road and MLK Parkway exits, I-24 drops down a steep grade, with a truck climbing lane on the westbound side, and crosses the Red River. More steep grades follow on the way to Nashville, and the road between the two cities is widely considered over capacity, with a high crash rate.

Hills are hard on overheating engines and worn brakes. If the temperature gauge climbs on the grade, pull fully onto the shoulder and shut the engine off. A partner can tow it to a shop once it's safe. Tennessee's driver manual says not to stop in a travel lane for a breakdown. Keep moving until you can get off the road.

The manual also says U-turns on interstates are illegal, and the median crossovers are only for emergency and maintenance crews. If you missed your exit, go on to the next one. Don't cut across.

Free state help on I-24

TDOT's rural HELP trucks patrol I-24 from the Kentucky line to Exit 31, from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day, at no charge. For emergency aid on a Tennessee highway, dial *847.

TDOT says help isn't guaranteed. For a tow to your shop, or a late-night breakdown, call us.

Fort Campbell and the state line

A Town That Crosses Into Kentucky

Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne, sits right on the Tennessee and Kentucky line. Most of the post is in Tennessee, but most of its housing is in Fort Campbell North, on the Kentucky side, next to the city of Oak Grove. Exit 1 on I-24 is signed for Trenton, Kentucky.

That means a short drive can cross a state line. When you call, tell us the state as well as the town. It helps us send the right partner, and it matters for the rules on the road where you're stopped.

Tennessee's move over law covers tow trucks and wreckers, so drivers on I-24 must change lanes away from your driver or slow down. After a small crash with no serious injuries, Tennessee law, T.C.A. 55-10-117, says to move a car that can still be driven off the road.

Clarksville weather

Tornadoes, Floods and Hard Freezes

Clarksville has taken real hits. An F3 tornado tore through downtown in January 1999. Another struck the east side in 2018, and an EF3 hit North Clarksville in December 2023. The May 2010 floods damaged the city too.

When a warning is out, don't wait in a stalled car. Get to a sturdy building. When water covers the road, turn around. The tow can come once it's safe.

Winter brings hard freezes. The Clarksville station averages about 78 nights a year at or below freezing. Cold mornings finish off tired batteries, so start with a jump before a tow. Check TDOT SmartWay for I-24 closures.

Clarksville questions

What Clarksville Drivers Ask

My car overheated on the I-24 hill by the Red River. What should I do?

Get fully onto the shoulder, turn the engine off and stay buckled in with your hazards on. Don't open a hot radiator cap. Tell us your direction and the last exit, and a partner can tow you to a shop.

Can you come to Oak Grove, on the Kentucky side?

Yes. Oak Grove is in the area we cover. Tell us you're in Kentucky when you call so we send the right partner.

I'm PCSing and my car won't start. Can you tow it to a shop near post?

Yes, if it's a local trip. Tell us where the car is and where it should go. Your price comes by text before anyone is sent. We don't do long-distance moves between cities.

Can my spouse get updates while I wait?

Yes. Give us one number and we text them your location and when the truck should arrive. That's part of the Stay-With-You Promise.

Tow Truck and Roadside Services in Clarksville

Sentinel is a 24-hour towing and roadside assistance network for Clarksville drivers. Tell us what happened, and we send a vetted local towing company near you with a truck suited to the job: a tow truck for a car that can't be driven (a flatbed where the vehicle needs one, like many all-wheel-drive cars), or a service truck for a jump start, lockout, flat tire, fuel delivery or winch-out.

The Sentinel Stay-With-You Promise

Seven Promises on Every Clarksville Call

Read the fine print on the promise page.

  1. We stay with you. From your call until the truck arrives, we check on you by text.

  2. See your driver before they arrive. You get their name, photo and truck by text, and you can track your truck on a map.

  3. Your family knows too. Give us one number, and we text them your location and arrival time.

  4. Photo-protected tow. Before hookup, your driver photographs all 4 sides of your vehicle. We text you the photos.

  5. Price locked by text. You get your price by text before we dispatch. That price is the most you pay for the job. If the job changes, we text a new price first and you decide.

  6. Never stranded after. Ride along in the truck when it's safe and allowed, or we help you get a ride. We also point you to a good repair shop.

  7. Free Sentinel Circle. After your first job, your vehicle is on file. Next time, just text "TOW" for priority dispatch.
